Owen Gue Hits the Road

The tail end of my van was nearly sparking the pavement as I drove away from The Cycling House to make my way back up to Montana.  With nearly all of my possession’s packed in the Grand Caravan, from the front passenger seat to the rear trunk, it was bursting at the seams.

Instead of writing a long, tedious article of my road trip from Arizona to Montana, I decided to put together a photo collection of my escapades.

Road Trip necessities: Kona Kula Deluxe, Ridley Road bike, 6' 3" Shane Stoneman Surfboard, Wetsuit

These were my road trip weapons of choice (L-R)Kona Kula Deluxe (mtn. bike), Body Glove 4.3mm wet suit, 6’3″ Shane Stoneman surf board, Cycling House Ridley Domacles equipped with Hed Jet Wheels, Garmin Edge 705, and the PowerTap 2.4 SL by Cycleops.(road bike).

Kitchen for Road Trip

Here we have my kitchen.  The double burner stove top with the stainless steel siding really tied this room together.

This was the bedroom. The location of my home changed from day to day which had a way of reminding me that I was truly living a life of luxury and comfort.  I was only asked by police once to “pack up and move on.”

Owen Gue makes friends with a Sea Otter

I tried to make new friends, like this little Sea Otter

Owen Gue and Sam Schultz

But then I ran into Sam in Monterey and I had to ask myself, “why do I need to make new friends when I have a buddy like this?”

Surfing was my drug of choice, no doubt about it.  This was my first day out in quite some time so, needless to say, I was a little excited. The 48 degree water in Central California was nothing but a brain freeze without the ice cream.

The Cycling House surfing the California Coast near San Luis Obispo, CA

This is just one of the hundreds of amazing views I enjoyed while driving up the Pacific Coast.

All in all, I drove through AZ, CA, OR, WA, ID, and finally finished in MT.  I spent the majority of my two and a half weeks in California, but throughly enjoyed every second of my trip regardless of where I was.  I’m now in Montana setting up T.C.H. Montana. The HED Wheels are built and the PowerTaps are ready to be trained on here at The Cycling House. I’m excited to ride with you all soon.  Whether it’s here in Montana, Tucson, or some other great place, I’m looking forward to it.  Have a great spring!
