Long Rides, Camping and Racing…Must be an Off Week

Off weeks are few and far between at The Cycling House. We love being busy with a full house but we also know how to take advantage of a few days of having no responsibilities whatsoever. Here is how the crew spent their week away from the “office”….

Ty rode the Ripsey Canyon section of the Arizona Trail

He led a group of riders on 6 hours of nearly continuous single track

Owen and the crew have “punched back in” and the house is full of people, bikes, and lots of energy as the fifth annual February Hammer Camp is in the house. We plan to post a recap of the week when all is said and done.

Cycling House Fleet is flying!

The Cycling House now has a full garage of 2011 Cannondale CAAD 10 rental bikes.

The TCH Rental Fleet

For the most part, the times of easily flying with a bike are over. With several airlines charging upwards of $200 each direction for a bike, it can easily double your airfare in some cases. We wanted to offer our riders the option of not having to deal with the stress and expense of traveling with a bike (or having it shipped ahead of time for that matter).

The CAAD 10 Frame is Cannondale’s lightest aluminium frame ever. It’s 1050 grams, or just over 2.4 lbs. These bikes are stiff and responsive without having a harsh ride.

The CAAD 10 is 1050 grams - light!

Want to try training with Power while you’re at The Cycling House? We’ll set you up for the week with the new PowerTap SL+ with the Joule computer for free. TCH Coach, Brendan Halpin will be on hand to teach you the ins and outs of training with a PowerTap.

Train with the Powertap SL+ available w/ Joule for free!

Linsey Corbin Tri Camp is Underway!

Pro Triathletes Linsey Corbin and Brendan Halpin are hosting an epic triathlon camp at The Cycling House in Tucson, AZ. There has been an added element of character building at this camp due to record lows here in Southern Arizona.  That being said, we have an amazing group of campers and their upbeat attitudes are incredible!

Linsey Corbin is fresh off her latest  70.3 win in Pucon, Chile. She’s a fellow Montanan and close friends with the crew at The Cycling House.  Brendan just PR’d with a time of 2:38 at the Rock n Roll Marathon in Phoenix, AZ!

Both Brendan and Linsey started racing triathlons together while going to school at the University of Montana. Ever since then their friendship has grown as well as their success in the sport.

Ty Brookhart has been preparing some AMAZING food this week!

Our first couple of rides were cold but Linsey and Brendan credited these workouts to aid in being better prepared to deal with tough, miserable races later on the road

Stay tuned for more updates. We thank Linsey and Brendan for making this such a memorable week!

Hammer Time, Fiesta Night

We just finished up an amazing week with the crew from Hammer Nutrition. Hammer brought down 13 campers from all over the country to ride in Tucson’s mid-70′s temperatures, learn about nutrition and proper fueling, and to have a good time.

Owen, Brian and the group riding towards Gates Pass

Brian Frank (proprietor of Hammer Nutrition) and Steve Born (fueling guru) made the trip from Whitefish, MT. Hammer Camp head coach, Jim Bruskewitz made the trek from Madison, WI. All in all, it was a great crew at the house!

The fiesta night at Hammer Camp is always a highlight

Andy and Alison Schultz made a guest celebrity appearance!

Lots of smiles on the last day of camp

Our next camp is a full on triathlon camp. We'll see how Red Danger holds up against some of the worlds fastest bikes...
