Andy started mountain bike racing in 2000 but he didn’t take it seriously until his freshman year in college in 2003. At that point he bought a road bike, a trainer and Joe Friel’s “Mountain Bike Training Bible” and started riding his bike indoors throughout the Bozeman, MT winter. After that winter he moved up in class quickly and made the jump to the professional mountain bike ranks in 2004. He raced as a privateer in 2005 and won U23 Nationals! He then signed on with the Cannondale Pro Mountain Bike Team and raced for them for three years, steadily getting faster. He raced for the Kenda-Titus-Hayes Team last year and finished 4th overall in the US Pro Mountain Bike Series (NMBS). In 2009 he raced for the Kenda-Tomac-Hayes Team. He graduated from Montana State University in December of 2006 and soon thereafter moved south to work and train at The Cycling House. Andy is now the head chef at The House. At the end of every winter season he makes the move to Durango, CO where he spends the rest of his year.
